Oracle has sued Google over it's use of the Java Micro Edition in its Android phones. Here's an excerpt from a recent article in the Mac Observer:
There are some who claim that Oracle’s lawsuit
against Google, which claims that Google has violated Java licensing in
the development of Android, is an abuse by Oracle and displays poor
stewardship of the language. Worse, some say it casts a pallor over the
use of the Java language in the enterprise. In fact, that’s all far
from the truth.
The first thing to understand about this lawsuit is that it relates to Java Micro Edition
(Java ME.) This version of Java has different licensing than Java
Standard Edition (Java SE) and Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE). The
latter are used for enterprise desktop and server application development. Java ME, however, is different.
